Mangalore University (MU) will conduct a failure mode analysis to determine the underlying cause of various errors in the recently released undergraduate examination results, as per the university’s vice-chancellor. The MULinx, an in-house software utilized for the evaluation, indicated plenty of serious issues for the first time. The mistakes have affected students’ career plans and degraded the university’s reputation. MU had to postpone postgraduate (PG) admissions for the third time.
The vice-chancellor confirmed that issues with the MULinx software caused a sequence of difficulties, but maintained that no single person was responsible for the errors. Because the entire examination process requires collaboration, they have formed a committee to investigate what’s wrong with the existing examination software. During the syndicate meeting, the same findings will be discussed to determine whether or not to continue using the current software. Out of 23 other state institutions, MU was the first to deploy in-house software, but we have yet to offer error-free results. From the next examination forward, they may outsource the task to private companies.
Mangalore University has decided to commence PG classes from mid-December. Errors in sixth-semester results forced them to extend the date to December 24. The earlier date was December 9. As a result of the inconvenience, admission for PG courses will be waived.
