Karnataka: As per reports, the Commissionerate for Health and Family Welfare in Karnataka has issued a discharge policy for Omicron variant patients who have been released from hospitals, warning that any deviations from the routine will be treated seriously. There are different guidelines for mild, moderate, and severe cases.
The patient can be discharged after 10 days if no fever or symptoms are found in the three days before discharge and saturation is maintained at 95% for the last four days without oxygen assistance, as per the guidelines. Patients will be discharged only after two negative RT-PCR findings within 24 hours of each other and three days of full clinical recovery. After 48 hours, if the report is positive, the swab test must be done. Patients will be instructed to quarantine themselves at home and self-monitor their health for an additional seven days after being discharged. A district surveillance officer is required to monitor them. The RT-PCR test for quarantine should be repeated at home on the sixth day of quarantine. He/she can be removed from home quarantine if the test results are negative.
