Cyclists from the Indo Athletic Society are on a bicycle ride from Pune to Kanyakumari, covering a distance of 1,600 km. The 10-day journey will cover Pune, Karad, Belagavi, Yellapur, Murudeshwar, Mangaluru, Thalassery, Guruvayur, Alappuzha, and Thiruvananthapuram. The cyclists are from Maharashtra and range in age from 14–63. They will be pedaling 170-180 km per day.
The Indo Athletic Society was founded in 2016 as a social athletics and sports organization. With 20,000 members across the globe, the organization focuses on the Fit India movement. Ganesh Bhujbhal and Ajith Patil kicked off the expedition from Mangaluru at 5.15 a.m.
With a huge number of participants, 75 members of the Indo Athletic Society set out to complete one of the longest cycle rides in the country. Vaccination is now compulsory, and no cyclist is permitted to ride without first passing the RT-PCR test.
