Mangalore: The coastal city Mangalore known as Rome of the East has come alive and is gearing up for Christmas after a low-key celebration last year due to the pandemic. Lighting, decoration, and music are used to bring in the Christmas celebrations in homes, malls, stores, etc.
If last year was a modest celebration with just the family, this year we have a lot of people from far-off areas visiting. Carol singing has returned, as have decorations around the city. The demand for celebratory decorations, kuswar, flowers, cakes, clothing, and other necessities has risen. Christmas celebrations in schools have returned to an offline format, with staff doing activities offline rather than broadcasting them online.
