On Monday, the chief minister announced that the government would care for orphaned children whose parents have died as a result of COVID-19. All of those youngsters will get schooling, education, clothes, food, and housing, and also stated that a statewide poll will be undertaken to ascertain their numbers. After giving out compensation payments to families who had lost loved ones to the disease, the CM spoke. The COVID-19 support fund for mourning families was formally formed by the CM, and it will benefit 25,601 individuals right away.
Families living below the poverty line (BPL) would receive cheques worth Rs 1.5 lakh each, while those living above the poverty line would receive cheques worth Rs 50,000 each (APL). BPL households, on the other hand, were only issued cheques for Rs 1 lakh, with authorities claiming that the remainder of the money, which was provided by the Centre, would be distributed through direct benefit transfer. As per reports, the state government is compensating 25,601 applicants, with 13,002 belonging to the BPL group and 12,599 to the APL category.
About 12,302 cheques belonging to BPL families have been approved and are being distributed. The relief amount has been approved for 11,519 APL families too, Chief Minister stated at an event in the city. The Chamarajpet MLA, who was also present, asked the CM to provide Rs 50,000 from the state funds to APL households. Approximately 1,000 checks were handed to COVID victims’ relatives on Monday alone. To ensure that everyone received their checks, the revenue minister instructed all applicant-families to contact their local zonal officials and pick them up.
