A new private medical college will open in Mangalore this academic year. The GR Medical College, Hospital, and Research Centre in Neermarga have been permitted to start an MBBS program with 150 students. The National Medical Commission’s Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has granted permission to the college (NMC).
As per the press release, the college has built all of the necessary facilities for the MBBS program following NMC and Rajiv Gandhi University regulations. The college’s hospital is contemporary and well-equipped, with 330 general beds, 30 emergency medicine beds (green, yellow, and red categories), and 60 ventilator beds in the ICU, ICCU, NICU, PICU, and obstetric HDU/ICU. Other options include pre-operative beds, post-operative beds, labor and eclampsia beds, and septic beds. On-campus, there is a 24-hour casualty, blood bank, central lab, pharmacy, radiology department, ambulance service, anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry labs, as well as a boys’ and girls’ dormitory.
