The district’s schools and PU colleges are planning to vaccinate students aged 15 to 18. Several discussions with parents and health authorities have been organized with respect to vaccination. The vaccine campaign will begin today. The DDPI, BEOs, DDPU, and principals of PU colleges have been assigned as nodal officers to ensure that the process goes well.
Up to 64,000 students from both first and second-year PUs are eligible for vaccination, as per C.D., DDPU, and Dakshina Kannada. Before the vaccine, each college has been asked to have talks with parents with the support of health professionals. Before being injured, each student must get permission from their parents.
As per the district health officer, only SSLC students are eligible to get vaccinated at the school level. The schools will follow a similar method to those of the PU colleges. The first round of parent-teacher association meetings has been held in all of the schools to address any concerns about the vaccination. The Dakshina Kannada district has set a goal of vaccinating 1 lakh kids between the ages of 15 and 18. As per the plan, the vaccination campaign will begin today and run till January 13, with all who are eligible, even those who are not PU students, being able to register and be vaccinated.
