Karnataka has 31.75 lakh eligible beneficiaries in the age group 15-18 for vaccination beginning from today. The initiative will be launched by the Chief Minister at the BBMP Higher Primary and Pre-University College in Moodalapalya, Bengaluru. Children in this age group will be given Covaxin, and they will be able to get the second dose of the vaccine after a 28-day break.
In Karnataka, ministers will kickstart the drive in each district, while MLAs will do so in each taluk. Preliminary discussions with officials from the health and education departments were held by deputy commissioners to ensure good collaboration. From today, the Karnataka government announced that more than 4,000 vaccination sessions will be held, with around 6 lakh children being vaccinated.
The state already has 16 lakh Covaxin medicines on hand, as per the government, and vaccination efforts will be held at schools and colleges. Personnel and logistical assistance will be provided by these institutions for the effort. Children who missed their vaccination appointments can go to health centers to get vaccinated, as per the health department. Vaccination for children with diseases will take place in health facilities under the supervision of a medical professional. Schools that offer online classrooms might schedule vaccination drives on certain days. Students who have dropped out of school can obtain a vaccination at a government hospital.
