As per Health and Medical Education Minister, the third wave, which has already begun due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant, could be over in 5 to 6 weeks. The minister stated that the virus is spreading rapidly, particularly in Bengaluru, where 3,000 cases were reported in a single day on Tuesday, and that this is cause for concern.
The high density of the population and the arrival of large numbers of people from foreign countries as well as from other states could be some of the main reasons for the high rate of infection in Bengaluru. The Health Minister expressed optimism that the COVID third wave was likely to end in 5 to 6 weeks. But under no circumstances is it possible to take the situation lightly and it is necessary to be extremely careful. The COVID control protocols like compulsory wearing of masks, social distancing, and sanitation must be strictly followed.
As per the Health Minister, there can be no compromise on the Covid control measures. The minister praised the Chikkaballapur district government for successfully commencing the vaccination program for children aged 15 to 18, noting that Karnataka had vaccinated 3.5 lakh youngsters in one day on Tuesday.
