In the last 15 days, Karnataka has conducted an average of 1.36 lakh COVID tests. However, on January 12, the state set a daily testing target of 2.8 lakh for the next three days. 1.2 lakh samples must be tested in Bengaluru alone (BBMP plus Bangalore Urban). The fast antibody approach will be used to test 1.12 lakh samples, while the RT-PCR method will be used to test 1.68 lakh samples.
They’ve set a target of at least two lakh tests every day, which they hope to beat. Almost a lakh tests are carried out in Bengaluru. There are around 265 laboratories in operation across the state. There were crowds in the south Karnataka districts as a result of the Mekedatu padayatra, although the 2.8 lakh target is just for the next three days. The theory is that the gatherings may have resulted in more asymptomatic illnesses.
For the following three days, alternative arrangements will be made only within districts so that the testing infrastructure is not overloaded. Local private diagnostic labs can also assist in these areas. The situation on the ground may not allow us to meet the goals. Healthcare workers are increasingly testing positive, and laboratories are not evenly spread across the state. It may take some time to gather and transport samples.
