Mangaluru accounts for roughly 76 % of active Covid-19 cases in Dakshina Kannada. As of Wednesday, Dakshina Kannada has 5,325 active cases, including more than 4,000 from Mangalore taluk. Meanwhile, 60 wards of the Mangaluru City Corporation have reported roughly half of the district’s active cases (MCC).
The municipal corporation has asked ward-level nodal officials to be more watchful because there are more than 2,500 current cases in home isolation inside the Mangaluru city limits. More than 90% of the active cases in Dakshina Kannada are in home isolation, and Covid Care Centers, since a majority of the cases are asymptomatic. Officials from the MCC and health department have also been conducting door-to-door visits to identify unvaccinated people in Mangaluru city. Initiatives are being taken to vaccinate all the people who are unvaccinated in the city.
