The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Bengaluru and coastal areas, predicting heavy rainfall in Karnataka for four days beginning Friday.
Heavy rains are expected in Bengaluru, Bengaluru Rural, and the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, and Udupi. Rain will fall in the districts of Hassan, Shivamogga, Ramanagar, Kodagu, and Chikkamagalur as well. Rain is also expected in the south Karnataka districts of Mysuru, Mandya, and Chamarajanagar. Bengaluru and its surrounding districts have been placed on yellow alert.
Rain with thunderstorms has also been predicted in most districts of the state. Lightning and thunderstorms are expected. Rainfall will not affect the districts of Bagalkot, Bidar, Gadag, Koppal, and Raichur in North Karnataka.
Yellow alert is a watch signal, and the climatic conditions during this alert is heavy rain ranging from 7.5 to 15 mm.
