The most awaited Utsav of Coastal Karnataka is back. The Karavali Utsav will be celebrated at the Tannirbavi Beach from December 23 to January 1, said district minister V Sunil Kumar. He spoke at a preparatory meeting at the deputy commissioner’s office on Monday.
The minister discussed the government sanctions for Karavali Utsav, private partnership for sponsorship, cultural programs and procession to be held as part of the festival. “More emphasis will be given to the culture of the coastal region while celebrating the festival. Further, it will be a boost to coastal tourism,” the minister said, and directed officials to get suggestions and cooperation from those who were part of the previous year’s Karavali Utsav events.
While Tannirbavi Beach will be the main venue for the festival, programs will also be held at Kadri Park and other venues. A food festival will be organized at Tannirbavi beach, he added. Deputy commissioner KV Rajendra said the district could not hold Karavali Utsav in the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He insisted that achievers from the district should be allowed to showcase their talent during the festival.
