Consumers of the “Nandini” brand will pay extra for milk now that prices have increased once more. The Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (KMF), the state’s leading dairy cooperative organisation, has decided to raise the price of its ‘Nandini’ brand milk and curd by Rs 3 per litre.
The new prices will go into effect tomorrow, November 15th. Toned milk will now cost Rs 40, compared to Rs 37 previously.
In light of inflation and other challenges encountered by the dairy farming community, according to KMF, a price modification was required. The benefits of the price hike will be passed on to farmers, it added.
On October 30, KMF Chairman Balachandra Jarkiholi warned that milk prices may be revised soon. Soon, the cost of KMF’s ‘Nandini brand milk will change.
After laying the cornerstone for a refrigeration plant in Hoolikatti, Jarakiholi announced that all 16 district milk unions had submitted suggestions to KMF for raising milk prices by as high as Rs 3 per litre. In light of inflation, he stated that raising milk prices is required in the interest of farmers.
