The state will experience a cold wave for a week, according to the weather service. Around January 19, the Malnad plateau region’s minimum temperature is forecast to reach 16 degrees Celsius. In addition to being chilly, dense fog will intensify the cold. According to the health authorities, severe weather will lead to several health problems.
Every year, the health suffers when the monsoon season gives way to the winter. The weather is more severe this year, though. Winter saw the continuation of the monsoon. However, since January started, the health of the population in Dakshina Kannada has severely declined.

Instances of viral fever among students in DK’s rural areas have increased sharply. The deputy director of public education and literacy, K Sudhakar, claims that viral fever is uncommon in metropolitan areas. However, the cold wave has a greater impact for Beltangady, Puttur, and Sullia students. Schools educate parents on the importance of providing for their children.

According to Dr. Kishore Kumar, the district’s health officer, “The nose gets blocked more often during the winter. Bacteria enter the body through the lips when breathing, which causes a fever to rise. Children and people over 60 need to use extra caution during this time. The health department is also informing the public about this through primary care facilities.
