Under the direction of Professor Anand Kumar Tyagi, Vice-Chancellor Mahatma Gandhi, Aloysius College (Autonomous) received IV Cycle NAAC Accreditation on January 16 and 17. Members include Dr. Fr. Sebastian Karottupuram, Principal of Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram, Imphal, Manipur; Prof. Walmik Sarwade, Dean, Department of Management Science; Member Coordinator, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University; and Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council has granted the College accreditation, which will be effective on January 24, 2023, with a CGPA of 3.67 on a Four Point Scale and an A++ Grade in the IV Cycle.
St. Aloysius College, which was founded in 1880, is proud of its 143-year heritage. Numerous students who have graduated from this university have distinguished themselves by serving humanity not just in India but all around the world. The College has provided top-notch education to all societal segments, regardless of caste, colour, or faith, despite being a minority institution.
Numerous students have been motivated by the college’s motto, “Lucet et Ardet,” which translates as “shine to enkindle,” to become men and women with and for others and so bring happiness and light into people’s lives.
Jesuit education has evolved into a benchmark for emerging new paradigms in higher education as a result of this the College previously received a “A” grade in both the I and II cycles of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council’s (NAAC) evaluation in the years 2004 and 2009, respectively. 2015 saw the college earn a “A” in the III Cycle with a CGPA of 3.62 out of 4. St. Aloysius College, carrying on the tradition, is the first institution in the coastal region to offer admissions exclusively online since 2017. From 2022 to 2023, it introduced numerous brand-new, cutting-edge undergraduate and graduate programmes. With a multidisciplinary approach and a focus on developing skills for employment possibilities, the curriculum has been created to meet the goals of the New Education Policy. This includes project- and internship-based learning objectives.
In addition, 20 of the College’s PG Departments have been approved by Mangalore University as Research Centers for PhD Programs. St. Aloysius College (Autonomous) was placed 95th among colleges in India in the NIRF-2021 Ranking, and it was among the top 3 institutions in Karnataka. In India, more than 6000 institutions took part in this evaluation. In 2020, the College is listed among the top 100 to 150 colleges in the nation.
The College received the UGC’s “College with Potential for Excellence” designation in 2009, which made it possible to upgrade the Science laboratories and provide cutting-edge infrastructure for research. Additionally, the college was given the “Star College Scheme” designation by the Department of Biotechnology of the Indian government in 2012, and in 2016 it was elevated to “College with Star Status.”
