The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has developed a new technique to prohibit stolen or lost mobile phone phones.

A mobile phone user who misplaces his device can file a report using the KSP e-lost application and receive an e-acknowledgement right away.

The user should then ask the service provider for a second SIM. The user must then turn on the phone to receive an OTP before providing information about the lost or stolen phone on www.ceir.gov.in. Within 24 hours of providing the information, the stolen or lost phone is disabled.

If the phone is located, the user can log into the CEIR portal and unblock the phone to use it once more. Even if the police station is contacted, the phone is blocked through the CEIR site, and it can be unblocked when the phone is found.
