Coastal Karnataka received a welcome relief from the recent sweltering heat, as light to moderate thunder showers hit a few areas on Tuesday, including Mangaluru. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, moderate rainfall is expected in the next three days for parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
The IMD has issued a ‘yellow alert’ for the coastal districts, with several places expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall from March 15 to 17. The recent showers have led to a dip in the maximum temperature in Mangaluru, which recorded a high of 34.2 degrees celsius. The rainfall is expected to ease the drinking water shortage and raise the water levels in the rivers for the region.
