Jason Deepak Saldanha and his co-driver Thimmu Uddapanda Bopanna have made history by winning the RAAT Thailand Rally championship on March 26. The duo achieved fourth position overall among 56 rallyists in various classes, including the Rally 1 Super 4w class. They drove a Suzuki Swift 1.6L six-speed stock car for Team Rally Insight in the RC 2.1 class, exhibiting fine rallying skills with only a few minutes for testing the new car and terrain.
They drove with good control and reached the top of their class and fourth in overall standings in the final six stages of the rally on Sunday. Jason, a coffee planter and graduate of St Aloysius College Mangaluru, resides in Doddalakunda at Belur in Hassan and plans to participate in the remaining rounds of Blueband Sports FMSCI Indian Rally Championship (INRC) under Dark Don team.
