Karnataka set to export over 100 tons of mangoes to international markets

The Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation is set to export over 100 tons of Alphonso, Mallika, Banganapalli and Badami mango varieties to countries like Bangladesh, US, and Singapore. A pack house has been established near Chintamani to clear decks for the export of the fruit, and a pack house in Pujanahalli has been set up to store and export mangoes.

The mango yield this year has been lower than expected due to unseasonal rainfall in some parts of the growing areas. The yield is likely to fall to 7-8 lac tons from the average of 12-15 lac tons. The prices of mangoes are expected to rise as a result of lower yield.
