The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Management Centre (KSNDMC) has forecasted no signs of heavy rains in the coastal region for the time being, with only slight drizzle expected on Monday and Tuesday. While pre-monsoon rains have reduced considerably compared to last year, the monsoon is expected to arrive in the coastal region in the first week of June, with officials predicting more rainfall due to the low pre-monsoon rain.

The coastal region has been declared a red zone, with a significant shortfall of rain recorded from March till date. DK has experienced a shortfall of 38%, Udupi 53%, and Uttara Kannada 46%, the highest recorded shortfall among the five geographical areas of Karnataka. Despite the shortage of rain, officials expect the monsoon to bring relief to the region.
