The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast warning of heavy rainfall in the northern region of Karnataka over the weekend, providing a glimmer of hope for areas grappling with severe drought conditions. The coastal districts of Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, and Udupi are also expected to experience heavy rains, according to the IMD’s predictions. Furthermore, districts that have been parched for a considerable period, including Bagalkot, Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Koppal, Raichur, Yadgir, and Bellary, are likely to receive a significant amount of rainfall on Saturday.A yellow alert has been sounded for the districts of Bidar, Vijayapura, and Kalaburagi, all of which have been severely affected by the ongoing drought.
The central Karnataka district of Chitradurga and the southern Karnataka districts of Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Chikkaballapura, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Shivamogga, Kodagu, and Tumkur are also on the IMD’s radar for expected rainfall.
Even the bustling capital, Bengaluru, has not been spared by the weather phenomenon. Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural districts have witnessed heavy rainfall for the past two days, causing damage in low-lying areas.
