In a significant development, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav met with Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel in New Delhi on Friday, addressing crucial railway initiatives and passenger concerns. The key outcome of the meeting was the approval of a new Vande Bharat Express train service connecting Mangalore and Goa, set to be launched by the end of October.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel had been advocating for the introduction of this much-anticipated train service to bridge the gap between Mangalore and Goa. Following their discussions, Minister Ashwini Vaishnav pledged his commitment to fulfilling this long-standing demand.
During the meeting, MP Kateel also voiced his opposition to the proposal to extend the Bangalore Kannur train to Cochin, particularly in response to requests from individuals in Kerala. In response, Minister Ashwini Vaishnav made it clear that such a proposal would not be entertained.
Furthermore, the meeting resulted in an agreement to introduce a passenger train service from Subrahmanya Road to Mangalore in the morning and a return train from Mangalore to Subrahmanya in the evening. This move is expected to enhance connectivity in the region and provide commuters with more travel options.
In another noteworthy development, the railway department has responded to passenger requests by revising the schedule of the extended Bangalore – Mysore – Mangalore – Murdeshwar train. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has instructed that the schedule be adjusted to arrive one hour earlier, effectively addressing concerns of schedule delays.
This decision came in response to a request submitted by the Kundapur Railway Passenger Welfare Committee, which was presented to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav in Delhi by Kodagu-Mysore MP Pratapsinha during Friday’s meeting. The revision of the timetable aims to improve the convenience and punctuality of train services for passengers.
With these developments, railway connectivity in the southern region is set to witness significant improvements, benefiting both passengers and the local economy. The launch of the Vande Bharat Express train service between Mangalore and Goa, along with the schedule adjustments for the Bangalore – Mysore – Mangalore – Murdeshwar train, reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing transportation infrastructure and meeting the needs of the people.
