Database On Interstate Travellers Between Dakshina Kannada And Kasargod To Be Built

As we progress further into the winter months, the state government is preparing to tackle all variants of the COVID-19  that is expected to increase these months. In order to take the necessary precautions, the government is planning to build a database of interstate travellers especially those from Kerala as many people commute to and fro from work from Kerala to Mangalore on a daily basis. As a large number of people travel from the Kasargod district to Dakshina Kannada everyday officials said that building such a database is necessary to tackle the potential spread of the coronavirus among the aforementioned individuals.

Collecting information on such a large scale will definitely not prove too easy but the government is positive that with the help of companies and people alike, they can make it happen. Employers have been asked to submit information regarding employees from Kasargod as positivity rates are higher there. The government will be working hand-in-hand with ASHA, Anganwadi workers as well as workers from the Mangalore City Corporation in collecting the required data. Those leaving for Kasargod from Dakshina Kannada have been asked to register themselves in order to keep track of possible positive cases of COVID-19 and its origin.

While Dakshina Kannada saw a total of 14 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, Kasargod saw a total of 68. The active case counts in both the areas currently stand at 415 and 867 respectively. As of now, the total number of cases in Dakshina Kannada is 32,673 while it is 23,665 in Kasargod. Such precautionary measures taken by the government will in turn help in tracking the spread of the coronavirus both in Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod.
