Serum Institute of India (SII) has provided Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Chikmagalur districts with 42,500 doses of Covishield vaccine.As per the report from RCH officer, Dakshina Kannada the transit of this vaccine from Bengaluru reached the regional station of Mangalore on Thursday.
About 24,500 doses of vaccine will be administered to the beneficiaries from the healthcare sector in Dakshina Kannada while those registered from Udupi will receive 12,000 doses of vaccine.Similarly beneficiaries from Chikmagalur will receive about 6,000 vaccine doses.This will be done as soon as possible by sending the vaccines to these three districts.
January 16th will mark the start of Vaccination Drive in Dakshina Kannada, limiting to only six centres.The list of six centres chosen for this drive comprises of District Wenlock Hospital, Urban Primary Health Centre (PHC) -Surathkal, taluk hospitals of Puttur, Sullia, Bantwal and Belthangady. On D-day, 600 beneficiaries will be inoculated with the vaccine.But in the future days many more centres will be opened as per the union and state government norms.
A special team of 4,776 trained vaccinators, including auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) and staff nurses will administer vaccines in this novel vaccination drive. 647 trained personnels will administer the vaccines to healthcare workers in government hospitals; Similarly 4,129 will serve for private hospitals.The union and state has taken all steps to ensure safe inoculation of vaccines to all citizens and curb the Covid crisis.
