Due to the rise in the number of infected individuals, the Indian Railways has announced latest guidelines to travel by train. An individual does not need to produce Covid negative certificate inorder to travel. The announcement was made amidst the spike in the number of infections, passengers do not have to produce a negative certificate but will be obliged to follow Covid 19 guidelines and protocols issued by the state government. According to PTI this guideline was introduced by the Railway board Chairman. Railway Ministry has advised passengers to follow the Covid 19 protocols such as wearing face masks and observing social distancing during the journey.
The ministry added that the Railway services would not be stopped and trains will be provided on demand. Enough services would be provided to the people. The ministry said that there is no cause for alarm.
At present 1402 number of special train services are running across the country. On a daily basis, 5381 local/suburban train services are also operational. About 28 special trains are being operated by Indian Railways as clones of highly patronized trains with high patronage. Besides, additional train services are also run during April-May 2021 in the Central Railway zone with 58 trains and Western Railway zone with 50 trains.
Railway Chairman has also promised that there will be no shortage of trains for those who want to travel. He has also assured that trains will be provided on demand and hence the people would not face trouble.
