With immediate effect, the city’s Clock Tower to AB Shetty Circle to Hamilton Circle to Rao and Rao Circle to Clock Tower roads have been turned one-way. The city police commissioner stated that a special meeting convened by the mayor decided to turn the route one way. The Mangaluru Smart City Limited (MSCL) has been working on converting the road, walkways, and circles into one-way stretches.
The commissioner of the Mangaluru Municipal Corporation (MCC) has written to the city police, urging that they make the required arrangements for the introduction of one-way traffic. The ACP traffic has provided a report with recommendations based on the MCC commissioner’s letter. As a result, the road segments have been designated as one-way, and cars will not be permitted to travel in the other direction, as per the police commissioner.
The revised traffic layout will alleviate traffic congestion at the stretch’s main intersections while also reducing the frequency of accidents. To allow for seamless vehicle flow, the medians built on the sections will be removed. After one-way traffic is implemented, the problem of a lack of parking spaces can be handled by permitting parking on one side of the road. He mentioned that the ACP traffic would make the required arrangements to place signboards on the roadways declaring one-way traffic.
