After 19 months, lower primary classes reopen

Lower primary school courses reopened on October 25 after a 19-month break. While government and aided schools welcomed students in grades 1-5 back to class, several private schools have opted to wait until after Deepavali to resume. The return of physical courses has come as a big relief to many parents, particularly those whose children were enrolled in government and aided schools that could not conduct online lectures.

Private school principals who have postponed the return of offline lessons have stated that they will do so only after receiving approval from all parents. Although they had intended to restore lower primary lessons on Monday, the Oxford School secretary stated that they had opted to begin these programs on November 8.

He explained that they had obtained consent letters from parents who wanted the school to reopen after Deepavali. Many school administrators stated that running both offline and online classes would be tough. Parents should choose offline lessons, as per the Commissioner of Public Instruction. On November 2,  noon meals for kids in lower elementary classrooms will begin.
