From a very young age, Paayal Radhakrishna who hails from Mangaluru, was enticed by the world of Indian art and culture. Bharatnatyam came to her as a calling as a little girl after having watched her mother, who was a classical Bharatnatyam dancer and performer. She started her training then and has completed the proficiency grade exam Vidyuth in Bharatnatyam from the Karnataka State board under the tutelage of her mother. She believes that if it weren’t for her family who grounded her to the value of art, she would not have reached where she is.
As she grew up, her college introduced her to the arena of modelling and she did her first photoshoot then. From then on, offers started pouring in for various other shoots and her inclination towards the field increased. Studying in a college of architecture and excelling in her studies, when she decided to drop out to pursue her passion for modelling and acting, it came as a shock to her parents and well-wishers. It was difficult to convince them that this was the path for her. Fortunately, they agreed. And since then, she has tread on the path that many refer to as unconventional.
Following that big step, she worked as a freelancer in Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Bombay. After which, she completed her diploma in acting from Actor prepares – the School for Actors in Mumbai to hone her skills as an artist. She says that it was this diploma that helped her pay keen attention to detailing and gain confidence in her skillset.
As far as her experience in the field of advertising is considered, she has been a part of advertisements of TVC, ramp shows and print shoot projects for brands including Bhima and Brothers, Rexona, Rapido, Kerala Matrimony and Amazon India.
Ms. Radhakrishna has nurtured her love for being in front of the camera and thus cherishes working in movies while being a classical dancer and performer. For her, joy is exploring characters, various scripts and stories. Paayal Radhakrishna debuted as a lead actor in a Kannada movie Bhinna which is presently streaming on ZEE5 .
The movie won awards in India including the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award and on international platforms. She was nominated in the Madrid film festival (Spain) for best actress in regional cinema. Now she is working in a Telugu film and the shooting is almost complete
