Bus Travel made easy for students by ‘Chalo Card’ facility

Dakshina Kannada Bus Operators Association (DKBOA) launched a special facility -‘CHALO CARD’,which provides bus pass service for students in the city of Mangalore.This was introduced in the inauguration of 32nd National Road Safety Week 2021. The ‘CHALO CARD’ facility allows students to travel via bus for a minimum of Rs.3.47 per trip. Students can avail various plans based on their travel schedule and meet their travel expenses at the least.

The package varies from Rs.434 to Rs.1,208 depending on the number of trips per day, being 2 or 4 trips per day. The plan may be for one month and based on the estimated average.Student spending an average of Rs.10-11 per day then a plan of Rs.434 can be availed for 30 days.Any plan students avail, they will be paying only Rs.3.47 per trip for travel within the city limits.

This idea of student pass ensures contact-less, hassle free travel. It eliminates the need to carry change. The student with the loaded ‘Chalo Card’ can just tap to pay the travel fare and then enjoy a hassle free and safe transit.Whole procedure of use has been carefully designed to make bus fare cheaply available to the students.

One can purchase this student pass at Cahlo Centres in mangalore like- DKBOA office,Milagres building,Hampankatte; Chalo office,State bank service bus stand opposite;Sagar tourist, Balmatta.The students availing this facility are needed to register by paying the one-time fee of Rs.50.The students also need to get sign and seal from their respective colleges on the form to get their Chalo Card loaded with the best suited plan.

The reports state that the Chalo Cards will be issues from 22nd january 2021 onwards.Indeed this initiative holds appropriate to the present day Covid crises also eliminating additional cost on bus transit.
