The GAIL has reduced the CNG prices by Rs 4 a kilo as a response to the outcry of the public against the hike in price. Now, the company has fixed the price at Rs 84 a kilo.
In Mangaluru on March 31, the price of CNG per kilo was Rs 63 and it was raised to Rs 68 on April 1. Later, on April 8, the price of CNG was raised to Rs 75 and on April 16 it was again hiked to Rs 79 a kilo. On May 3, the price of CNG was hiked to Rs 83 a kilo and on June 1 it was raised to Rs 88 a kilo.
Reacting to the lowering of the price, CNG Users Association president Pushparaj Shetty said, “It is a mudslinging ploy employed by GAIL in the eyes of the consumers. A year ago, the prices of petrol and CNG were at least Rs 40 lower than what it is today and the difference is huge and unbearable for the consumers.”
