The department of health and family welfare have started to vaccinate people above the age of 18. The drive is organized for two weeks starting from June 28. The drive is mainly focused to vaccinate the engineering, medical, degree paramedical, ITI and diploma students who will also be vaccinated in this drive. The drive will be happening in selected colleges where the students can take vaccination by providing the college identity card and aadhaar card.
The present plan of the government is to vaccinate about 1.79 lakh beneficiaries, including students, teachers and non teaching staff. About 11,500 people are expected to be vaccinated on Monday.
The University vice chancellor of Mangalore University, said that all the colleges around Mangalore have been instructed to coordinate with the Health Department. Mangalore University will have vaccination in their premises on June 29.
The colleges in the district will vaccinate about 1,000 students where the vaccination begins at 9 am.
The institutions should contact the health department and nodal officers in order to vaccinate the students and teachers. The vaccination drive will only be successful if the colleges actively participate in the drive. Along with this the urban and community health centers will continue with the vaccination procedures.
