The minister addressed the media right after a meeting with the technical advisory company and the expert committee on Covid 19 constituted by the government. He said that the infections might peak in the first or second week of May and would drop by the end of the month.

The minister told the media that he has requested the experts to submit the suggestions in a report format which will be discussed with the chief minister and other officials . He added that the suggestions are with scientific evidence, based on which the government will take necessary  measures in the days to come.

The decision was made that none of the suggestions would hamper the economic activities. However there will be restrictions on gatherings for various reasons. There weren’t any clear answers to the suggestions given by the experts. It  was noted that the rules would come to action only after a panel discussion. Since the night curfew has come into action since yesterday, the decision to extend it to other districts would be declared after observing the changes for days.

Followed  by the video conference with the PM the chief minister had announced night curfew in few cities from 10th to 20th of April 2021.

It was added that out of 7,000 cases being reported in the state everyday, the maximum share is owned by Bengaluru. As per mathematical projections  the cases would rise by May 15. On a daily basis Bengaluru is reporting in the range of 5,500 to 6,000 cases. The highest number of infections are reported among the youth between the age of 20-40.

The ministry has requested the maximum co-operation and strict restrictions would be followed in case of public gatherings. The ministry showed concern about hospitalization as well. If cases increase, home isolation would also be considered. The experts have most importantly advised to procure certain medicines from now on and enable supply to private hospitals. Due to festivals like Ugadi, people would be travelling to various places. Hence checking must be made compulsory. Inter state travels will also be monitored strictly.
