Covid positive students can appear for the exam

The Karnataka education department has issued instructions for administering the Senior School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exams, permitting kids who are Covid positive to sit for the exam. In all, 20 COVID-19 positive students wrote the SSLC examination in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. They wrote the exam in COVID Care Centres.

As per the department’s standard operating procedure, each Taluk will have a Taluk care center where students who are Covid positive can take exams. Information about students who want to take the exam despite being positive must be obtained and arrangements made before the start of the exams. If a child is Covid positive, he/she will be allowed to sit for tests only if a medical practitioner certifies that he/she is fit to write the exam.  Before tests, each invigilator must receive at least one dose of the vaccination and guarantee that face masks and shields are worn in the exam rooms. If a child has been tested positive and is unable to write exams, the board will be notified and a second try will be made. For the students, this will be viewed as a new effort.

The health department will make arrangements to transport such students to the centers via ambulance, and health department personnel will serve as invigilators in such centers. Once the student has returned the OMR sheets, steps must be taken to disinfect them. The department has also proposed steps to ensure social separation and sanitization, among other things. Each of the centers has designated a space where any student who exhibits symptoms of Covid-19 will be isolated.
