DK gears up for elections with over 17 lakh registered voters

The eight constituencies of the Dakshina Kannada (DK) district in India have 17,58,647 voters, with 8,59,899 male, 8,98,132 female and 75 transgender voters, according to Deputy Commissioner Ravi Kumar. The election process will begin with the issuance of a gazette notification on April 13, followed by the last day for nomination on April 20, scrutiny of nomination papers on April 21 and withdrawal of nominations on April 24.

Voting will take place on May 10, with counting on May 13 at NITK Surathkal. The district has 1,860 polling stations, including 100 model polling stations with various themes. Several surveillance teams and check posts have been set up to ensure the smooth conduct of elections.
