During the Mangaluru Dasara and Navratri festivals, the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has decided to illuminate the city’s highways. From October 7 to 16, the festival will be held in Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple, Mangaladevi Temple, and other temples.
For the first time, MCC will approve funds to illuminate all of the city’s key main roads. An MCC council meeting recently passed a resolution in this regard. The proposal was moved by Radhakrishna, a nominated corporator, and it was unanimously approved by the council. The local board had approved a budget of Rs 38 lakh for the decoration of the streets surrounding Kudroli Temple and other prominent thoroughfares.
The corporation agreed to sanction funding to beautify the roadways near Mangaladevi Temple after receiving similar requests from other corporators. Usually, the Kudroli Temple Committee spends money to beautify roadways during the festival,” Radhakrishna told. “Thousands of devotees go from all across India and the world to attend the Mangaluru Dasara celebrations. However, due to the epidemic, the number of worshippers attending the celebration dropped dramatically last year. As a result, the temple is unable to spend large sums of money on road decoration.”
