From Nov 8, Travelers Vaccinated With Covaxin Can Enter US

Travelers who have been completely vaccinated against COVID-19 with Covaxin have been allowed to enter the United States beginning November 8. CDC’s travel advisory applies to FDA approved or authorized and WHO Emergency Use Listing vaccines, and embraces any new vaccines that may be added to any of those lists over time, as per a CDC press officer speaking to ANI about updating the approved travel list for Covaxin.

The last-minute update comes less than a week before the US implements its new travel system, which allows foreign visitors to enter the country if they have received a vaccination certified for emergency use by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the World Health Organization (WHO). The World Health Organization (WHO) granted emergency use listing (EUL) to India’s indigenous vaccine Covaxin, created by Bharat Biotech, on Wednesday, as per the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced in a tweet that the Technical Advisory Group has confirmed that Bharat Biotech’s COVID-19 vaccine satisfies WHO requirements for protection against COVID-19. COVAXI, produced by Bharat Biotech, has been awarded emergency use listing (EUL) by WHO, adding to a growing portfolio of vaccines certified by WHO for the prevention of #COVID19.

Travelers completely vaccinated with Pfizer-BioNTech, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Oxford-AstraZeneca, Covishield, Sinopharm, and Sinovac will be accepted under the new US travel guidelines.
