On the occasion of the 67th All India Cooperative Week 2020, five cooperative societies located in Dakshina Kannada have decided to open generic medicine outlets on November 15, 2020. This was informed by chairman of South Canara District Central Cooperative (SCDCC) bank, M. N Rajendra.
It was informed to the public that the Intra state cooperative week programme will be inaugurated by S. T. Somashekar who is the Minister of Cooperation. With the theme, Cooperative marketing, consumer, transformation and value addition’ the programme will be conducted at T. V. Ramana Pai hall.
The authorisation for Karnataka State Co-operative Marketing Federation to commercially sell generic medicines was given by the Central government. Union minister D V Sadananda Gowda officially launched the sale of the medicines on November 6, 2020 while the approval letters for the green signal to commence the sale in Dakshina Kannada were handed over by Cooperative minister S T Somashekar.
Kota Shrinivas Poojari, minister for religious endowment, fisheries will be the President of The Cooperative Week. Best cooperative societies will receive awards distributed by Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel. The official flag of the Cooperative week 2020 will be hoisted by Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath.
