Amid a massive influx of tourists to hill stations, the Centre issued an alert on Tuesday, warning that “revenge travel” could jeopardize the gains and create new Covid-19 cases, even as the country struggles to restart economic activities with the waning second wave of the pandemic. The health ministry’s joint secretary urges people to put their relaxation to good use by engaging in necessary activities. The virus will have a chance of spreading again if citizens begin to travel around in hill stations and marketplaces without wearing masks and without maintaining a physical distance.
In recent weeks, the number of new cases reported daily has decreased significantly. The images are seen today (from hill stations) were terrifying. It is critical to demonstrate appropriate behavior according to the Indian Council of Medical Research
Officials cited a 33,000-person online survey as evidence of gross violations in terms of mask use and physical distancing. Based on the current survey, 69 percent of people did not use their masks properly, 63 percent did not comply with physical distance forms, and 24 percent showed limited compliance. Only 11% notice they conform to physical distance norms. With the lifting of restrictions, people are assuming that the virus has been eradicated. The virus is still present, so violations of Covid appropriate behavior can nullify the gains achieved thus far.
