Karnataka: Chief Secretary-led committee to get approvals from the forest dept

The state government decided on Wednesday to create a high-level committee led by the Chief Secretary to secure necessary approvals from the Forest Department for different developmental projects. CM instructed the authorities to create a committee during a Forest Department review meeting.

The committee is expected to approve the project within a stipulated time. It will be based on a study carried out by the ISEC (Institute for Social and Economic Change) on environmental degradation.

The chief minister directed officials to create awareness about agroforestry, which will improve soil fertility and enhance the green cover. The Forest Minister, Forest Development Corporation Chairperson, Chief Secretary, and others were present at the review meeting.
