Following a serious discussion with experts and other ministers, Chief Minister, BS Yediyurappa on Friday, announced the extension of the State lockdown with strict restrictions till 6 am on June 7, 2021. The lockdown that was to be lifted on May 24, 2021 has been extended till June 7, 2021. In addition to this, it has been stated that Mucormycosis (black fungus) patients will be given free treatment in government district hospitals.
Eight days after the suspension of the vaccination drive due to inadequate vaccine stock, the government has decided to resume the vaccination drive for the age group 18-44 from Saturday where frontline warriors will be the first ones to be inoculated followed by other eligible groups. State procured vaccines would be employed for the same.
Deputy commissioners and the chief commissioner of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will be incharge of this vaccination group while in order to facilitate Covishield, the deputy commissioners and the chief commissioner of the BBMP will appoint nodal officers for each category. Eligibility certificates for the categories under which people would be vaccinated, will be issued.
