As a result of the raging second wave of COVID-19, the government has decided to postpone the SSLC exams which were scheduled to begin in the state from June 21, 2021. The Education Minister, in an official statement announced that a revised schedule for the exam would be released once the second wave is curbed.
Many schools in Karnataka had urged the government to postpone the exam for the reason that the postponement would buy some time for the students as well as the management to conduct the exams effectively.
The Pre-University board exam for Class 12 students has already been postponed by the government with the first-year students being promoted. In addition, the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2021 for engineering admissions was postponed as well on May 12, 2021.
Summer vacations have been announced in Karnataka schools till June 14, 2021 with the commencement of the new academic year from June 15, 2021.
Owing to the second wave, the CBSE and CISCE board exams for Class 10 and 12 were cancelled while NEET, JEE-Main and many other entrance tests for graduation and post-graduation courses have been postponed.
