As Covid-19 cases hit down in the district with less than 1% test positivity rate, the district administration is planning to organize Karavali Utsav and Beach Festival in April.
The district had last organised Karavali Utsav in January 2020, and thereafter the festival could not be organised, due to the rise in Covid-19 cases. The district administration is expected to hold a meeting of stakeholders soon, to decide about the Karavali Utsav and Beach Festival. After successfully conducting Karkala Utsav, Kannada and culture minister V Sunil Kumar, the district minister of Dakshina Kannada, is keen on holding Karavali Utsav and Beach Festival, it is learnt.
Like previous years, the district administration has plans to hold the event vibrantly. Karavali Utsav involves various cultural events, flower shows and other activities, including Karavali Expo at Karavali Utsav Maidan, Kadri Park and Panambur Beach. In 2020, an international kite festival with beach games and a concert was held at Panambur Beach.
Deputy Commissioner K V Rajendra told that the district administration is yet to finalise the date for the Karavali Utsav and Beach festival. “We have plans to hold the festival in April. The dates and events will be finalised after holding a meeting with district minister V Sunil Kumar, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and MLAs,” he said.
