Little Shetty spark in the Tokyo Olympics 2020: Chirag Shetty

The Tokyo Olympics 2020 has lighted up and the event is flourishing. India’s presence is brightening as always and we have a very good number of participants representing India. Proudly India has talents from Karnataka for The Tokyo Olympics. Chirag Shetty is one such gem participating in men’s doubles badminton.

Chirag Chandrashekhar Shetty is an Indian badminton player from Mumbai but holds his ancestral land in our little city Udupi and spends his vacation in Udupi and Mangalore.

Chirag competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, winning a gold medal in the mixed team event, and a silver in the men’s doubles event. Earlier on the occasion of National Sports Day on August 29, Chirag was conferred with Arjuna Award for his outstanding achievement in badminton. He was presented the prestigious award by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind through a virtual conference.

 

Along with winning gold at the Commonwealth Games, Chirag has also won the Thailand Open

2019 and Hyderabad Open 2018. Further, he has six titles to his name in BWF international series from 2016 to 2019, partnering with Satwiksairaj Rankireddy who also won the Arjuna Award for the year 2020.

 

Winning medals for the country with all his hard work and passion has reached him today in The

Tokyo Olympics 2020. Representing India for Men’s doubles Badminton along with Satwiksairaj

Rankireddy. Yet, their tournament was over. You win some, you lose plenty. That is a sport. In that instant, Satwik and Chirag won… yet the tournament was lost. He had a cherished goal to participate in the Olympics and win a medal for the country. Though he couldnt win the medal for the tournament, he won for his goal. Looking forward to a lot of the best performances Chirag is ready for.
