Under the union ministry’s chemicals and fertilizers department the initiative to install plastic parks in Mangalore. As per the reports this infrastructure will be one of the types with the facility to harmonize the capacities of the domestic downstream plastic processing industry.
This consent on plastic park setup was confirmed by the union minister of chemicals and fertilizers via his official twitter account. A detailed project report (DPR) on this setup is requested to be made by the Karnataka Government, secretary of commerce and industries state department, at the earliest. Among the proposals to set up two plastic parks in the country the approval for the location of Ganjimutt , Mangalore has been approved by the State government.
Plastic parks are the crucial part of Make in India programme and in-principle approval for which is valid for six months only.So the secretary of the government has requested for DPR to be submitted at the earliest to speed up the final grant approval.
A plastic park is an industrial zone for plastics and allied enterprises, with a motive to unify the energies of the domestic downstream plastic processing industry.Additionally the plastic park at Ganjimutt will receive raw plastics and polypropylene from MRPL(Mangalore Refinery and petrochemicals Limited) which at present is sent to Gujarat and Maharashtra.Also this polymer and plastic park at Ganjimutt will employ hundreds of youth.
This plastic park will save on the transit cost and also use the raw plastic to process.Total of 104 acres currently will be used for setting up of plastic park with the future plan of additional 50 acres of land. This step will add to various green initiatives and developments in Mangalore.
