Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) is set to construct a separate play area for special children in Kadri Park to encourage extra-curricular activities among them. The play area will be built at a cost of Rs 50 lakh with adequate infrastructure and MUDA is inviting tenders for the project.
Although schools for special children exist and have playgrounds, there are no exclusive facilities in the city for special children, depriving them of their extra-curricular needs. MUDA has decided to dedicate a portion of Kadri Park exclusively for special children, providing additional facilities such as eating areas and restrooms.
The initiative by MUDA is expected to provide a space where special children can engage in recreational activities and aid in their physical and mental development. It will also encourage inclusivity and awareness about the needs of special children in the community.
