Manjamma Jogathi, a Transgender dancer from Karnataka, received the Padma Shri award

On Tuesday, Manjamma Jogathi transgender woman from Karnataka who has received the Padma Shri award for her contribution to traditional dance gave the President of India a special welcome at the majestic Rashtrapati Bhavan. Manjamma, dressed in a saree, approached the President and, in a unique gesture, took the saree’s fringe towards President of India Ram Nath Kovind to wish him success before receiving the award. A nice request from a transsexual might bring luck, as per the belief system.
