The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) and Health department has taken an initiative in order to increase awareness about the Covid vaccination in the city by conducting mammoth Vaccine Mela on Friday November 26.
Both MCC and health departments will convince those who are yet to take the first and second dose of vaccines and make sure they will take it. A separate team will visit the malls, markets, shops and supermarkets of the city on November 26 and 27 and administer vaccines to those who have not yet taken the same. Depending on the response to this drive, the MCC will decide to implement the same effectively in coming days.
From November 15 to 19, in total, 49,480 people have received the coronavirus vaccine. Out of this, 4,128 people received the first dose and the rest, the second dose. In the next five days the number rose to 60,608.MCC opened a separate war room to inspire people to take vaccines. This was informed by commissioner of MCC Akshy Sridhar.
“The Health department is trying to convince people who have not yet taken the vaccine. There is a target of administering one lakh doses of vaccine in the mammoth vaccination campaign. All those who are 18 years old and above have to take the first and second dose of the vaccine.”said Dr Kishore Kumar, district health officer.
