Nandi Hills in Chikkaballapur is set to be developed into an international tourist destination informed Health and Education Minister, Dr. K. Sudhakar. Dr. Sudhakar is also the assigned district in-charge minister for Chikkaballapur after inspecting the working of developments at Nandi Hills.
Adding to the beauty of plants and animals that surround the Nandi Hills is its spiritual and historic significance. These characteristics make the Nandi Hills worthy enough to be developed as an international tourist destination. In addition, he also mentioned that Rs. 10 crore has been sanctioned for converting the Hills into an International destination.
For the past 15 years, a ropeway has been the demand of the people. Even though there was an agreement by an international agency for the project, it was disregarded due to technical difficulty. However, this project is now set to become a reality in the next 3-4 months and more than 10-acre land will be allotted to convert the foothills as a parking lot.
Situated 30 km away from Bengaluru International airport. It is only an hour’s travel from Bengaluru. With the complete support that has been extended by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, the project is set for development and tenders will soon be invited so that the work order can be allotted.
The project is set to have trekking trails to 5 hills surrounding the Nandi hills, eco-tourism, conservation of archaeological monuments, beautification, infrastructure development among the main developments. In addition, plastic usage will completely be banned in this location.
