Naval NCC Cadets Embark on 10-Day Sailing Expedition in Udupi

A thrilling 10-day river and ocean sailing expedition has commenced in Udupi, featuring 72 Naval NCC senior division and senior wing cadets from Goa and Karnataka. This expedition is part of an intense All India competition among Naval NCC units, all competing for the prestigious ‘Most Enterprising Naval Unit (MENU) Trophy,’ which will be presented by the Prime Minister during the Republic Day parade.

Hosted by the Number 5 Karnataka Naval Unit of NCC in Mangaluru, representing both Karnataka and Goa NCC Directorate, this extraordinary camp is taking place along the scenic Papanashini river in Udyavara and the vast expanse of the ocean in Malpe, extending up to Kemmannu-Bengre point. The event kicked off on September 13 and is scheduled to conclude on September 23.

During this ambitious expedition, the cadets are poised to cover an impressive total distance of 219 kilometers. Their journey will encompass several remarkable landmarks, including the Udyavara-Papanashini river, Malpe Port, St. Mary’s Island, Kemmannu Bengre Delta Point, Daria Bahadurg Fort, and segments of open-sea sailing.

This challenging adventure not only showcases the dedication and skill of these young cadets but also highlights their pursuit of excellence in the field of naval activities. The ‘MENU Trophy’ represents the highest recognition for such endeavors and is a testament to the relentless efforts of Naval NCC units across the country.
